RCX Datalogger Kit - Reservations
We've developed a prototype GNSS (GPS) datalogger utilizing a newly available 4-band RTK GNSS satellite receiver that has achieved unbelievably accurate results in testing - we've gotten as good as 1.6mm horizontal accuracy in static testing (1-sigma) and around 2cm accuracy for autocross. Yes- it really is that good!! The RCX Datalogger we developed also has a 6-axis IMU, CAN interface, and a low-energy Bluetooth connection to stream everything to SoloStorm in real-time. It also runs a local webserver accessed through your hotspot to provide status, change settings, and access logs.
We do not presently have plans to sell these units commercially, though. Our tentative plans are actually to share everything open-source and make this technology as widely accessible as possible. But we also realize there are no dataloggers this good available anywhere else right now, and that people are interested and excited about it! We're considering offering to sell pre-assembled & pre-flashed kits as a convenience/service for $499. This order form is to gauge interest so we know how many to build and bring to SCCA Solo Nationals.
The assembled kit includes a 4-band 20Hz RTK GNSS receiver, ESP32-S3-based microprocessor with integrated 6-axis IMU, CAN transceiver, 3D printed enclosure, GNSS antenna, 8GB microSD card, and a firmware flash.

* These are still very much prototypes and much is experimental - not a polished commercial product
* No warranties or guarantees beyond good-faith effort
* mm-level accuracy requires ideal conditions and could be possible, but performance in testing has been closer to 2-3cm typical horizontal accuracy on-course in real-world autocross environments.
* cm-mm accuracy requires an active wifi hotspot in your car and an RTK Base station within ~20km or so. (We will run an RTK base station at SCCA Solo Nats, but you'll need to run a wifi hotspot on your phone.)
* If RTK Base stations are not available, you will need to operate your own RTK Base Station: We used identical hardware for our RCX RTK Base and RCX Datalogger, only the firmware flash is different. There are other good RTK Base Station options, but ours is very good and just like the RCX Datalogger, it supports 4-bands, and 6 constellations. Because it's stationary, we were able to also add Galileo-HAS PPP for high precision self-survey-in.
* Without wifi or an RTK base station, this is still a high-end 4-band/6-constellation 20Hz GNSS
* Connectivity has only been tested with SoloStorm, but may work with other software that supports BLE RaceCapture connectivity.
* The CAN channels are through a wired tap and presently hardcoded to Porsche 987.2S PDK and Porsche 718 PDK (auto-detecting between them).
* We expect the community will help add new features and capabilities over time, including CAN support for more vehicles.
