RCX Open Wheel Tire Blankets

RCX Tire Blankets are high quality tire blankets for autosports competition including autocross, time trial, road racing, and dirt track.  Our blankets are proudly made in the USA from high strength coated nylon fabric and lightweight and effective thermal insulation.  Our open-wheel series of blankets are designed for Formula cars and other applications where the blanket can be dropped on from above to offer more heat containment and heat scavenging.
 
Our open wheel blankets are designed by competitors and for competitors.  They're rigid enough to drop easily onto your tires, but pliable enough to stuff into a corner of your trailer for transport.  They're water resistant, easy to clean, and designed to stand up to the rigors of paddock and grid life.  They're passive (unheated) and permitted by most sanctioning bodies including SCCA.  We're excited to be making them and hope you'll be excited to use them!  We're happy to help ensure you get blankets that fit your car and tires perfectly.  Please include information on your car and tires in the comments when you order so that we can verify fitment.  We may contact you for additional measurements and photos to ensure proper fit for your car.  Please also let us know if there are any events coming up in the near future you would like to have these blankets for.  We try to accommodate rush orders when possible.
 
An Open Wheel Set includes four blankets, each custom-made for your car (up to 24" diameter), with a single lower flap on each blanket to cover the lower portion of the tire.
 
Optional Custom flaps: your blankets will be constructed with additional flaps designed to cover more of the open gaps around your suspension members to hold in as much heat as possible.  These flaps are connected with hook-and-loop fastener to allow fast and easy blanket installation and removal. We've found they tend to just get in the way and hurt more than they help, but we can make them if you want.

Note: We don't like charging this much, either.  The price for these is so high because these sets are hard to manufacture; nearly everything about them is very difficult and labor intensive.  Every car is unique and they've averaged  4-6hrs of engineering design time trying to model and scale from available photos and info to get the fit right, and actual manufacturing has taken about 4x more labor than a typical set of tire blankets.  They're just not economical for us to make, and they create a lot of backlog in our manufacturing schedule. We initially planned to stop  selling them because we felt genuinely guilty asking what we'd need to charge, but ultimately decided to list them for what they actually cost in labor and let our customers decide.  We suggest trying literal blankets as an alternative. Like fire suits, choose 100% cotton or wool if you can, as synthetics could melt on contact with hot components.
